Suspended track lighting is very simply an alternative to mounting track directly to the ceiling. In this case, track is suspended from ceiling-fixed wires to bring light down to the required level. It offers a practical and highly versatile solution for a wide variety of settings, thanks to the numerous customisation options available.
Applications
Our suspended track lighting solutions can provide ambient, task and accent lighting, depending on the requirements of the space. These systems are often used in art galleries and retail stores, especially where ceilings are too high for surface-mounted lights to effectively highlight art or products on display. Bringing the light level down allows for focused, directional light, with no shadows. We can devise a layout that places light exactly where you need it.
It’s not just a solution for commercial spaces. Suspended track lighting works well for residential settings too, especially in spaces with high or sloping ceilings, or where an industrial effect is required.
Track Lengths
Our rule of thumb is to use one light per linear metre of track. We have single circuit track available in 1m, 2m and 3m lengths, with 4 wire track available on request. Track can also be cut to your required length. By combining lengths, we can produce a solution of any size and arrangement you require, from straight runs to T shapes, U shapes, squares or rectangles.
Accessories
Our range of track accessories allow lengths to be joined at corners, cross-sections or T junctions. The power feed can go into the end of the track, or into the middle, giving further flexibility. Our tracks are supplied with a power feed on one end, and an end cap on the other.
One suspension kit (containing two strings) is needed for each metre of track. A kit containing 1.5m adjustable strings is $30 + GST. This allows you to come 1.5m down from ceiling height, and the strings are adjustable on site. So, for three metres of track, three suspension kits are required. There are also kits of 3m adjustable strings which are $41 + GST per kit.
Wattages
We offer 9W, 15W, 30W and 40W track light options, in Black or White. The compact 9W light works best in residential projects, in areas which are not regularly occupied or used. The 15W light, with dimming as standard, is very popular for residential settings or art galleries. A dimmable light is especially important in residential projects where living spaces have many functions, from dining to reading to watching movies. Moving to the more powerful 30W and 40W options, these are most suited to commercial spaces such as retail stores, showrooms or offices, with the 40W in particular offering very bright illumination.
All lights are available in either a either Cool White (5000K) or Warm White (3000K) colour temperature, and with a 15°, 25°, or 38° beam angle.
Fitting Colours
Colour Temperatures
Our variety of beam angles is particularly useful for commercial or gallery spaces, where you might require a mix of a wide beam, generating a wash of light, and a narrow beam, accentuating a particular object or display.
Cool White
A Cool White (5000K) colour temperature is closer to natural daylight, and best for working environments, such as offices, or retail stores, or anywhere clear and bright light is required.Warm White
A Warm White (3000K) colour temperature is closer to fire or candlelight, and so creates a cozier, more relaxing ambience suited to residential projects or art gallery spaces.
